1. What are the system requirements for Halifax Pro MT4 Mobile?

Halifax Pro MT4 Mobile app for iPhone or iPad. Requires iOS 7.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Search for 'Halifax Pro' as your broker

Halifax Pro MT4 Mobile app for Android. Current version: 400.948 Updated: February 2, 2016 Requires Android: 4.0 and up. Search for ‘Halifax Pro’ as your broker

Halifax Pro MT4 Mobile SmartPhone edition is for devices that run Windows Mobile 2003 SE or higher.

The MetaTrader 4 Mobile PocketPC edition is for devices that run Windows PocketPC 2002 or higher.

2. Can I use the Halifax Pro MT4 platform on my Macintosh computer?

Yes. The Halifax Pro MT4 platform is now available as a native, installable OSX application, with no need for a Windows emulator or other software to run the platform. The Halifax Pro MT4 for Mac OSX platform has all of the full MT4 functionality, so you can run the same Expert Advisors and Indicators on your Mac as you would a PC.

3. I've downloaded the Halifax Pro MT4 platform. How do I log into my live or demo account and start trading?

Once you downloaded and installed the Halifax Pro MT4 platform (look for our blue logo on your desktop), open the application and To login, go to File -> Login.

Enter your userID and Password and choose Halifax Pro - Live or Halifax Pro Demo account. If you do not yet have a UserID and Password, choose File -> Open An Account

4. Where can I obtain my account reports?

To obtain account reports, go to View -> Terminal -> Account History. To save, right-click anywhere and select 'Save as Report'.

5. What ports do I need to have opened to run MetaTrader 4?

You will need to open port 443 on your firewall to properly run the MetaTrader 4 platform.

Trading FAQs

6. Does the MetaTrader platform facilitate mini lot (10 K) trading?

Yes you can trade mini lots (10K) using the MetaTrader platform. Here is the scale that we use for trading lot sizes on Metatrader:

0.10 lots = 10,000 units of base currency: Our "mini" lot size.

1.00 lots ¨C 100,000 of base currency: Our "standard" lot size.

7. How do I place a trade within the Metatrader 4 platform?

To place a trade, on select Tools -> New Order. Select the symbol of the currency pair you wish to trade, the volume of the trade size and Market Execution for Type. Click Sell or Buy within the Instant Execution section to place the trade.

8. How do I close an open position?

To close an open position, double-click the position within the Trade section of the platform. Within the Order ticket, click the Close button. You will receive a confirmation of your trade. Placing an opposing trade will not close the original position but will open a new position. This is due to the hedging capabilities on the MetaTrader 4 platform.

9. Do trailing stops remain active when I turn off my computer?

No, trailing stops are maintained locally on your machine and therefore requires that your MetaTrader 4 platform remain on and connected to the internet. If you disconnect the MetaTrader 4 platform from the system, any open trailing stops will be converted to a hard stop or limit.

10. How do I change my chart type?

From the top Menu bar, select Charts. Choose your chart type preference.

11. How can I create Trend Lines and other Line Studies?

To add a trend line or line study, go to Insert -> Lines and choose a line study. Line studies can by adjusted on the chart by dragging the white point to the desired area.

12. How do I view the time frame toolbar?

To view the time frame toolbar, go to View -> Toolbars and make sure that Periodicity is checked. You will then see the following buttons in the new toolbar:

M1 = 1 minute chart

M5 = 5 minute chart

M15 = 15 minute chart

M30 = 30 minute chart

H1 = 1 hour chart

H4 = 4 hour chart

D1 = daily chart

W1 = weekly chart

MN = monthly chart
