Welcome to the Halifax TWS contract search. This search will allow you to quickly check what products we offer on TWS.
Chances are, you'll find the answer in our FAQs. Here are some of the more common questions we get asked:
To apply for an account, just click on "Open Account" at the bottom of the page and this will put you through to account application page.
To download the platform, select the option "Platform Download" in the top menu under Platforms. Then, select Trader Work Station on the left hand menu and once there, select the "Windows Download" option or "Mac Download" options to download. Please note you can download this on both a Windows and a Mac computer.
If you want to use the Browser-based version, just click on "Web login" in the top menu and then select "Halifax TWS Web".
Yes you can. Simply go back to the download section on the Platform Download page and this should allow you to download the platform on your work computer.
Because the platform uses Java, you will need Java installed on your computer for it to run. If you haven't done so already, you can download Java here www.java.com. If it still doesn't work, please contact us via Live Chat or call us on 1300 363 505 (outside Australia +61 2 9241 4321).
Whenever you start the Halifax TWS, it automatically checks for updates and notifies you when an update is available. You can then choose to update immediately or wait for a more convenient time. However, when the program updates versions, you might have to redownload the latest version. Please check our website for the latest versions.
For Windows, you can do the following:
1. Go to Start >> Control panel >> Programs and Features.
2. Click on Trader Work Station and click Uninstall.
For Mac, you can do the following:
1. Go to the applications folder.
2. Click on TWS and drag into trash.
This is because there is a system reset happening during this time. Market data normally disappears briefly, and will reappear once the system has finished.
Please view the system requirements in the downloads section to view the requirements for Windows and Mac.
The platform allows you to see trades that goes back one week. If you want to see trades that were done yesterday and further back, you will need to view the online statements via Account Management. Simply click on Account Management in Web Login at the top menu and once the page comes up, select Account Management. Login using your live account details. Once you are in, select Activity Statements and generate the report that you want.
If you added the contract into the portfolio page of Order Management, everytime you shut down and restart the platform, it will disappear. This is because the portfolio page is only meant for your positions, and not like a watchlist. To ensure that the contract remains the next time you load the platform, make sure you add the contract onto another page i.e. Watchlist rather than the Portfolio page.
On the other hand, if you did do this correctly, and when you loaded the platform the contracts were no longer there, you will then need to restore the settings. To do so, go to File >> Restore Settings and find the file that has "tws.(day).xml" where (day) is the previous day i.e. Mon for Monday. This should restore the layout to the way it was.
If this still doesn't work, please contact us via Live Chat or on 1300 363 505 (outside Australia +61 2 9241 4321).
You will need to login to Account Management by clicking on Web Login in the top menu. Once you have logged in, go to Manage Account >> Trade Configuration >> Subscriber Status and select the option to change to non-professional. Once done, if you go to Market Data Subscriptions, you will notice now that it comes up with "Non-professional" status, then select the data that you need. For further details, please see Account setup guide in User Guides page.
If your account is set up in a trust, and you meet the requirements of a non-professional subscriber, then you will need to fill out the Data Subscription form located in the user guides section and send it back as a scanned copy to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will manually switch the subscriber status to non-professional.
It's easy! Just click on "Demo Account" at the top of this page, fill in your details, and that's it.
It's easy! Just log into Account Management using your live details, and once in, go to Manage Account >> Settings >> Paper Trading Account and fill in your details, and that's it. Note your live account will need to be funded before access to paper trading is given.
A demo account only displays fake data and is only used to show you what the TWS looks like, whereas the simulation gives you live data with all the functions of the live account to prepare you for live trading.
It's simple. Just click on the Funding option in the top menu and all the details will be listed under Traders Work Station.
Depending on your bank, it may take 1-3 business days.
